The Oconee County Sheriff's Office is searching for 42-year-old John Michael Kentnor, who has active warrants for theft by conversion and is "actively evading capture," according to a post on the agency's Facebook page.
Chief Sheriff's Deputy Lee Weems would not say what Kentnor is alleged to have done, citing an ongoing investigation.
Weems did say that the investigation involved authorities in multiple jurisdictions.
"If you live in Oconee County and Mr. Kentnor has taken you for money, please contact Lt. Green directly at vgreen@oconeesheriff.org or 706-769-3945," the sheriff's Facebook page said. "If you live in any other county, you need to contact the LE agency with jurisdiction where you live."
Kentnor currently had an address in Bogart, but he was from Madison County and might be in that area, the post said.
