Suspect sought in series of Athens vehicle break-ins

By Joe Johnson

Athens-Clarke County police are searching for a suspect in a recent series of vehicle break-ins.

They released a surveillance camera image of the suspect with the hope that someone in the public will recognize him.

Details of the incidents were not immediately available.

"In most cases we did not receive reports with the entering auto suspect. However, he has hit Jimmy’s Auto Repair on Whit Davis, and at Athens Paint & Body on Lexington Road repeatedly over the last month,” police spokesman Officer Kenneth Brooks said.

“He has also entered vehicles at other vehicle repair shops along Lexington,” Brooks said.

Police requested anyone who has information about the incidents or recognizes the suspect to contact Detective Nate Franco at (762) 400-7100 or nathaniel.franco@accgov.com.

Anonymous calls can be made to the Crime Stoppers confidential tip line (706) 705-4775.
