ICE places immigration hold on Athens prisoner following DUI arrest

An immigration hold was recently placed by ICE on a prisoner at the county jail following his arrest for driving under the influence of multiple substances.

Police said that on the night of July 19th officers conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck that was being driven suspiciously at Rolling Ridge Apartments on Kathwood Drive.

The driver, 40-year-old Marco Perez of Goddard Road, reportedly made furtive movements inside the vehicle prior to rolling down his window, at which time an officer smelled alcohol on his breath.

During a DUI investigation, police said, Perez was found in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested.

He was transported to the jail where the detainer was placed on him by ICE,
