Federal officials are seeking to deport an immigrant who was arrested last month after he reportedly tried to ram two police cars.
Israel Cesmas Albarran, 26, of Pine Hollow, tried to intentionally strike the police cars with his pickup truck, according to police.
The incident happened on the night of March 28th on Newton Bridge Road where a police officer reportedly had to swerve to avoid a head-on collision with Albarran’s truck.
The officer reported that it appeared the driver had purposefully steered the truck toward his marked patrol vehicle.
When the officer turned around and gave chase Albarran allegedly steered his truck towards a second police car near the intersection of Kathwood Drive, but that officer managed to avoid a collision.
After the truck pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store and stopped, officers found an open container of alcohol inside and located a small bag of methamphetamine near the pickup in the parking lot.
Albarran was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless driving, felony fleeing/eluding, and DUI.
He was booked into the county jail where U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on his release for deportation proceedings.
