Killing dogs at the ACC shelter

I’m writing because last week they killed 10 dogs at the shelter and the new director is not allowing transports to the north rescues-and you can’t even apply for dogs anymore. You have to go in and adopt them and they’re only open from 11 to 4 and they don’t answer the phone. I tried to get a dog and at that time there was an app process last week. They never contacted me and then they sent the dog to rescue. So at least they didn’t kill him. But everybody’s upset, especially about those transports being canceled and the new director worked at Frito-Lay so I don’t know why he was hired. I’ve got this trending on Nextdoor and I called all the other newspapers. But it sounds like all the Director wants to do is kill the dogs and not try to get them placed. You can’t even get a hold of anybody to foster a dog people on Nextdoor are saying this is happening to them all over the place and there’s a commissioner meeting tonight. Some people are gonna go to it, but the commissioner told me that they sent my email to them to the county manager who hired the shelter Director so I don’t know how that’s gonna help but Athens is very proud of adoptions and fostering of these dogs and under the other Director they were placing a lot of of them and now he’s just killing them. There’s an adoption program where the prisoners train the dogs and then they’re adopted. But they used to be 10 dogs over there at the prison and now there’s like five because that new Director can’t go in there and pick dogs out so maybe he’s getting rid of that program too. That was very popular so it’s a total mess.
