Expectations are high for former Bulldog Ladd McConkey after having one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history last year with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Unfortunately. his preparations for the 2025 season hit a road bump when he went down with an injury. Head coach Jim Harbaugh specifically stated this week that McConkey is “working through something minor” when asked about his star wide receiver.
He did not share any more details about the injury.
He would only say that Ladd sat out of practice one day this past week to be on the safe side.
McConkey is coming off the best rookie wide receiver season in Chargers history, racking up 82 receptions and 1,149 receiving yards. He found the end zone an impressive seven times as well.
His receptions and receiving yards totals were both good enough to set records among all rookies in all of Chargers history.
McConkey’s best game of his 2024 season by far came in the Chargers playoff loss to the Houston Texans. The Chargers unfortunately came up short in the game, but McConkey set the NFL postseason single game rookie receiving record with a whopping 197 receiving yards. It’s unfortunate that record came during a loss, but it shows just how special McConkey can be if he can pull that off in the biggest game of the season.
McConkey did not play in the Chargers first 2025 preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, but most of starters didn’t either.
