Spencer Thurlow Long,41, of Hill Street, has been indicted for assaulting his 83-year-old grandmother last summer.

He was charged with inflicting pain on an elderly victim, interfering with a 911 emergency call, and family violence battery, according to the indictment filed last week in Superior Court

The fincident happened on July 21st in the home that Long shared with the victim.

The woman had told police that “Spencer snapped at her and began striking her, causing lacerations to her arm and face,” then smacked the phone from her hand when she tried to call 911, according to the police report,

He fled the scene before police officers arrived, and the woman was so afraid of her grandson that she “said if we had to shoot him go ahead and do so,” according to the report.

She was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Long was arrested the following day when police were investigating a man’s report that he had been violently beaten and robbed by Long on Baxter Street.

Long remains at the county jail pending his scheduled November 4th arraignment.
