Jackson County man indicted in East Athens rape case

An Athens grand jury has indicted a Jackson County man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 22-year old woman last year in her eastside apartment.

Jacob Steven Dockery, 19, of Jefferson Road, was charged with rape and aggravated sodomy with force, according to the indictment that was filed on August 11th.

He is currently incarcerated at the Madison County Jail for a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Hull.

The Athens incident reportedly happened in September 2025, when he drove the victims home from the Duke and Dottie’s nightclub on East Broad Street.

The alleged rape happened inside the woman’s apartment, and she told police that while fighting off the assault Dockery said for her to “stop crying and take it.

After he left the woman went to the Family Protection Center where a victim advocate reported the assault to police.

Detectives interviewed her there and later went to her apartment to collect evidence.

In the Madison County case Dockery faces charges of rape, aggravated assault, possession of a aweapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, and contributing to the delinquency, unruliness or deprivation of a minor.

His arraignment on the Athens charges has yet to be scheduled.
