North Carolina man arrested in Texas for Oglethorpe County murder

The Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office has released the following:

The Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Arkansas State Police and Denton Texas Police Department are wrapping up a multi-state investigation with the arrest of a North Carolina man.

Michael Thomas Dusch, 29 , of West End Moore County, North Carolina was arrested in Denton Texas. He is being charged with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Exploitation of Elderly, False Imprisonment, Concealing the Death of Another, Financial Transaction Card Theft and Identity Fraud. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Dusch was identified as a wanted person in North Carolina for Child Pornography and Identity theft charges when he was stopped for a traffic stop in Denton Texas in a stolen vehicle. Items found led to contact with our agency that connected him to the murder of David J. Stewart in our county. Dusch is also linked to an investigation in Arkansas for an incident there that is still being investigated.

Dusch is awaiting the extradition process to Georgia to face these charges.
