Man assaulted woman with brandy bottle and stole her phone

Anthony Earl Collins, 43, of Candler Road, has been charged with aggravated assault and felony theft for hitting a woman in the head with a bottle of brandy and stealing her phone when she tried to call 911.

The incident happened late the night of September 16th at the 62-year-old victim’s home on Jockey Club Drive, when he struck her in the head with with a bottle of Paul Masson then ran out the back door.

The victim told police that Collins is homeless and she sometimes allows him to use her shower and lets him cook.

On that night he had come over to make chicken. and when they got into an argument she told him to leave and he assaulted her,

Police arrested Collins when they found him walking on the road nearby.

The victim had a large knot and bruise on her forehead, but the police report didn’t indicate if she required medical attention.

As of this morning Collins was being held at the county jail in lieu of a $1,500 bond.
