Athens-Clarke County police said they were investigating a man who was shot at a Commerce Road motel early Wednesday morning.
Officers responded at about 6:30 a.m. to the Bulldog Inn on a report of a male with a gunshot wound.
The victim, 21-year-old Keonta Gresham of Athens, was found in a room suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his thigh, according to Lt. Shaun Barnett, ACCPD’s public information officer. He said that Gresham was transported to the hospital for treatment.
“Detectives are still working to determine how he received the injury and are not ruling out that this was some sort of accidental discharge of a weapon,” Barnett said Thursday morning.
