Man indicted for Athens vape shop armed robbery

Morton McLaughlin Wiggins, 40, of Comer, has been indicted for an armed robbery at an Athens vape shop earlier this month.
He was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the indictment filed in Superior Court on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident happened on the morning of April 6th at The Joint Vape Shop on Hull Road, where Wiggins left without paying for a $30 canister of nitrous oxide.
When the clerk followed him into the parking lot, Wiggins pointed a shotgun at her and then drove off in an SUV that was later stopped by sheriff’s deputies in Madison County,
The laughing gas cannnister was in the vehicle and the shotgun was found at the home of the suspect’s parents.
Wiggins is being held without bail pending his arraignment next month.
