A Clarke County grand jury has indicted a man with attempted murder for shooting a teenager in the head last year.
Quavarez Marquel Sanders, 21, was charged with criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the indictment filed Tuesday in Superior Court.
The shooting occurred early the morning of May 22, 2024 near West Broad and Pulaski streets, where police officers found 17-year-old Mykerion Rodgers suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.
The victim lived at the nearby Parkview Homes apartment complex and had been shot from a moving car.
Police have not disclosed whether investigators established a motive for the shooting.
Sanders was granted bail in September because the previous district attorney failed to indict his case within the statutory time limit.
He recently filed in court a change of address that purports he has moved to Decatur.
Sanders is scheduled to be arraigned on July 1st.
