Kalki Yalamanchili has been sworn in as the new district attorney for the Western Judicial Circuit that comprises Athens-Clarke and Oconee counties.

The oath of office was administered on Monday at the courthouse in downtown Athens by circuit Judge Lawton Stephens.

Standing at Yalamanchili’s side were his wife, Caitlin, and sons Asher and James.

Yalamanchili previously worked in the courthouse as an assistant district attorney during the Ken Mauldin administration.

He was elected last month in a decisive victory over predecessor Debora Gonzalez, who served a single term.

Yalamanchili’s first official day in office is January 1.
