New leadership team members join Clarke Central and Cedar Shoals high schools

The Clarke County Board of Education has approved a pair of administrative hires, promoting Tamika Henson from assistant principal to associate principal at Clarke Central High School and hiring James Price as an assistant principal at Cedar Shoals High School.

Tamika Henson

Henson will take over the associate principal position held by Dr. Cindi Lowe, who is retiring at the end of December, and join fellow associate principal Dr. Summer Smith.

Henson’s career in education has primarily been spent with the Clarke County School District and Clarke Central, where she was first hired as a math teacher in 2016 before becoming an assistant principal in July 2022. She also previously taught math at the Foothills Regional High School and most recently for CCSD’s Clarke Virtual Academy.

Henson holds a Master of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Education and an education specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont University.

CCSD will conduct a search for an assistant principal to join assistant principal Everett Nealy.

James Price

Price will fill the Cedar Shoals assistant principal position left vacant by Damian Powell, who left the district prior to the start of the 2023-24 school year, and will join fellow assistant principal Fabian Jones. He comes to CCSD from Kestrel Heights Charter School in Durham, North Carolina, where he had been assistant principal since July 2022. He was a science teacher at the school from August 2020 through June 2022 and was an educator in Atlanta Public Schools for three years prior to that. He also has previous experience as the registrar at the BeSix Knowledge Academy in Decatur, Georgia, and was a project manager at Community Build Ventures, where his focus was assisting other educators with professional development.

Mr. Price holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Morehouse College and a masters in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University.
