A 52-year-old Athens woman was recently arrested after a neighbor reported she was lying on a sidewalk in front of the woman’s home, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.
When officers responded to the 11:30 p.m. report on Friday, they found the woman unconscious on the sidewalk with her dress pulled up to her chest, with a liquor bottle and beer can directly beside her, according to the report.
She was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
When police questioned the woman’s husband, he explained that he they got into an argument at about 2 p.m., at which time the woman left home. The husband said he hadn’t realized that his wife had returned until police showed up outside the home, according to the report.
The woman was taken into custody at the hospital Saturday morning and booked into the Clarke County Jail on charges of public indecency and two counts of public intoxication.
She was released later that afternoon upon posting own recognizance bonds totaling $3,000, according to the sheriff’s office.
