A police officer has been arrested in connection with the death of 16-year-old Susana Morales, whose body was recently discovered near the Gwinnett-Barrow county lined, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The department stated in a news release that Miles Bryant, 22, an officer with the Doraville Police Department, has been charged with concealing the death of another and making a false report of a crime.

"During the course of the investigation, detectives developed enough probable cause to arrest him (Bryant) today but the investigation is still ongoing and fairly new,"  said GCPD spokesman Hideshi Valle.

Bryant was being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bail being set.

GCPD previously said they identified human remains that were found on Highway 316, between Drowning Creek Road in Gwinnett County and the Barrow County line as belonging to Morales, who was reported as missing from her home in Norcross on July 26, 2022.

GCPD said the girl's death was being investigated as a homicide.
