Police officer arrested for domestic violence

A police officer was arrested at his home in Madison County Monday morning for allegedly assaulting his wife during a domestic altercation in their home.
Devin Markeese Dorsey, 27, an officer with the Statham Police Department in Barrow County, was charged with simple battery and false imprisonment.
According to reports, Devin and Shawnice Dorsey
fought inside their home on Willis Glenn Road in Hull after they were awakened by an message alert on Devin’s phone.
“According her, the message was from an individual named James and read: How did you sleep handsome? Good morning,” according to a Madison County Sheriff’s Office report.
Shawnice packed up some belongings and took them out to her vehicle and when she returned to get more things Devin allegedly grabbed her by her hair and “placed his hands on her face and throat in an attempt to prevent her from leaving,” according to the report.
Devin Dorsey was featured on the Statham Police Department’s Facebook page about a week ago for having become certified as a K-9 officer.
