Police take out warrants for man who assaulted pregnant girlfriend in Athens

Police have taken out warrants for a man who last month assaulted his pregnant girlfriend in the Nellie B community of east Athens.

Quintavious Lewis-Pye, 33, of Decatur, is charged in the warrants with aggravated assault, battery against a pregnant woman, false imprisonment, family violence battery, criminal trespass, cruelty to children, and obstruction of law enforcement.

The incident occurred the evening of August 25th in the victim’s Cone Drive apartment when Lewis-Pye beat and choked the 33-year-old woman.

One of her children called 911 but the suspect had already fled by the time officers arrived at the scene.

Police learned that while assaulting the victim Lewis-Pye had barricaded the bedroom door to prevent her from leaving . Before fleeing from the home he snatched from the victim her wallet, phone and keys,

When searching the neighborhood officers located Lewis-Pye at the nearby community center but he took off running and the officers lost sight and him in the area of North Peter Street.
