Science fact of the day: There’s more than one type of hammerhead shark

There are actually several different species of Hammerhead shark.

In fact, there are two genera, or subgroups, within the hammerhead shark family: Sphyrna, which has eight species, and Eusphyrna, which has one species. Size can vary greatly among the different Hammerhead shark species, with some measuring as small as 3 ft. long and others as large as 15 ft. long or more!
