A large block party in the westside Stonehenge neighborhood this weekend came to a tumultuous conclusion with people fighting and ducking for cover from gunfire.
The police department reports that officers initially responded to the neighborhood soon after midnight on June 28th to investigate a loud noise complaint on Altarstone Drive.
As officers were trying to determine if a man lying on the ground needed medical attention pandemonium suddenly broke out.
“While out with him people in the crowd around us had fallen down and were getting shoved towards us because a fight had broken out.,” one of the officers said in a report.
A group of about 10 juveniles was seen running away through people’s front yards followed by a series of gunshots ringing out at the corner of Marlborough Downs Road and Altarstone Drive, the report says, with “a large group of the crowd ducking for cover and running away from the location of the shots being fired.”
According to the report, no one was found to be injured and the shooting suspects were not identified.
