A second arrest has been made in connection with the May 27 shooting death of 20-year-old Cameron Manago at Rolling Ridge Apartments off Kathwood Drive in Athens.
Zyquavious Thomas, 16, was arrested several hours after Manago was killed. He was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and criminal attempt at armed robbery.
Today, 18-year-old Janiya Moore of Athens was arrested for Manago’s death on charges of felony murder and tampering with evidence.
She was taken into custody in Jackson County with the assistance of the local sheriff’s office.
The circumstances surrounding Manago’s death continues to be investigated by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, which asked for anyone with pertinent information to contact Detective Hovie Lister at 762-400-7333 Hovie.Lister@accgov.com.
The arrest of Janiya Moore, alongside Zyquavious Thomas, raises serious concerns about the circumstances that's not my neighbor leading to Cameron Manago's death. Communities must address the root causes of such violence and provide support to prevent future tragedies.
Gonzalez will likely issue an official apology to both individuals for the inconvenience caused by the arrests.
