Three injured when judge’s gun goes off in Athens restaurant

Three people were injured recently when a gun was accidentally discharged in a downtown Athens restaurant.
The incident happened on the night of September 15th at Señor Bird’s Tacos & Tequila Bar on West Washington Street when Clayton County Superior Court Judge Aaron B. Mason reportedly reached into his pocket for his wallet to pay for dinner and the Glock 27 pistol went off as he removed his hand.
Three people suffered minor injuries when struck by tile debris from the bullet impacting the floor,
One of the victims was a 22-year-old University of Georgia student who was bleeding from a cut to his forehead, according to police.
“Two females who were inside of the restaurant reported injuries to other officers but also declined EMS,” a police officer reported.
The bullet had been fired through the judge’s pocket, but he was not injured.
The incident was titled reckless conduct by police, but the 56-year-old judge was not charged,
