Two suspects have been arrested for the murder of a Winder teen whose body was found was found a week ago just outside Winder city limits, according to a Monday morning press release from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.
Barrow deputies and Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents made the arrests in connection with the slaying of 19-year-old Winder resident Lane Michael Ballard, whose body was found the night of April 11 on the dirt perimeter road in City Pond Park.
Ballard reportedly had been shot multiple times where his body was found.
It was determined that the crime scene was just outside the city limits and the Winder Police Department turned it over to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office, which requested the assistance of the GBI
Brantavious Sims, 18, was arrested last Wednesday at his home in Winder and was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, the sheriff's office said.
The following day, 17-year-old Jayquan Crawford of Statham surrendered himself at the Barrow County Detention Center, where he was booked in on a charge of being a party to the crime of murder.
If authorities knew the motive for the murder, they did not release it
Both suspects were being held without bail.
I know these kids, upstanding citizens, it must be a mistake. No way they did it.
