Two people were injured in Watkinsville Saturday afternoon when a car collided head-on with a pickup truck.

The car burst into flames and was fully engulfed when first responders arrived at the scene, according to Oconee County Fire Rescue Chief Bruce Thaxton, who said the driver was removed from the vehicle by two Good Samaritans.

That motorist and the pickup's driver were transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

The incident occurred in the 7600 block of Hog Mountain Road, near Hebron Church Road.

The roadway was closed for about an hour until fire and rescue units cleared the scene.
