Two suspects sought in Athens shooting

Athens-Clarke County police said they were looking for two suspects in a weekend shooting of a man at Bethel Midtown Village.

Police said they responded to the apartment complex off College Avenue at about 6:43 p.m. Sunday to investigate a report of gunshots being fired there.

The victim, who did not receive life-threatening injuries, went to a nearby fire station where he received emergency care before being transported to a local hospital.

According to police, witnesses stated that at least two suspects were involved in the shooting, one identified as a light-skinned black male wearing a red, white, and blue striped shirt.

After the shooting, witnesses stated that the suspects fled from the apartment complex on foot.

The victim's name has not yet been released by police.

Police said they continued to actively investigate the incident Monday morning.
