UGA student arrested after shouting antisemitic slurs

A University of Georgia student was arrested early the morning of July 26th after he allegedly behaved disorderly in a downtown bar and shouted antisemitic slurs.

A police officer reported that he was on bicycle patrol at about 1:25 a.m. when he was flagged down by an employee of Walkers Pub on College Avenue concerning a group of disorderly patrons who would not leave.

Tucker Dean, a 22-year-old UGA student, was identified in the report as the most disorderly of the group,

“He was shouting ethnic slurs calling one of the employees a kike,” the officer says in his report, “He continued on yelling the slur claiming he had a right to do so.”

The word is a contemptuous term for a Jewish person.

“I told him that he can be arrested for his outburst, (but he) continued,” the officer’s report states.

When Dean refused to identify himself he was taken into custody and briefly resisted while being being arrested.

He was booked into the county jail on charges of disorderly conduct, public intoxication, and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

He was later released upon posting cash bonds totaling $40.
