UGA student assaulted by creepy man on Firefly Trail

A 21-year-old University of Georgia student reported to police that when walking on the Firefly Trail on September 14th she had an encounter with a “very creepy” man.

She hadn’t planned to report it but did so two days later upon reading a story about a similar incident in Classic City News.

The student told police that it was on the trail at about 4:30 p.m. near Oconee Street and Winterville Road that she passed a white man who was pacing around and talking to himself.

On her way back from RaceTrac the man approached with his arm outstretched as if to grab her face.

She managed to duck under the arm and as she ran away could hear him laughing.

The student “said it scared her and she thought it was very creepy, but did call the police when it happened,” according to the police report that labeled the incident as an assault,
