UGA student concerned about what happened during night of drinking

A University of Georgia student recently went downtown with friends during a night of drinking and now wonders what might have happened to her prior to waking up in some bushes.

The 19-year-old was fully clothed when found in bushes in front of the Classic Center, but still “she was not sure what, if anything, happened to her body while she was unconscious,” she told the police.

The young woman “advised that she went to a couple bars in downtown Athens the evening of August 19, 2025 , and she had an incomplete memory of the night,” according to a police report.

The drinking had started even before going downtown when the student “met up with some friends at an apartment to consume alcoholic beverages,” the report states.

One of her last memories was drinking at the Clayton Social bar on East Clayton Street where a friend went to buy her a drink but she was gone when he returned.

Upon walking up outside the Classic Center the student texted her location to the fraternity guys she’d been with.

Those students then brought her to their fraternity house where members of a nearby sorority ordered an Uber to take her home.

The student met with officers at the downtown police station, where The Cottage sexual assault center provided her with advocacy.

Police said that her clothes were placed into evidence,
