By Joe Johnson

A 19-year-old University of Georgia student last week died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Ryan Victor Snyder reportedly shot himself on December 4th with a gun he rented at the Athens Gun Club off Atlanta Highway.

He died the following day in his home town of St. Louis, Missouri.

Ryan was a business student at UGA and in high school had played basketball and volleyball, and also wrestled.

He was a National Honor Society member and his obituary said that Ryan loved movies, poker, sports, and nature.

“He had a wonderfully dry sense of humor and was beloved by both his high school friends and friends from Six Points, a Jewish sports camp in North Carolina that was a second home to him,” the obituary reads, “He loved playing board games with his family, and participated in many Fantasy Football Leagues, including one with his brother, cousins, uncle, dad and Grampa.”

A private family burial was held at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery in Chesterfield.

A memorial honoring Ryan’s life will be held at Congregation Shaare Emeth, 11645 Ladue Road on Sunday, December 14 at 1:30 pm.
