Authorities said they plan to charge a Winder man with murder for fatally shooting his mother and stepfather last week in their house on Kendall Park Drive.
Cody Donavan Jones, 35, has been hospitalized with gunshot injuries since Thursday's shooting incident, and upon his release he will be charged with two counts of malice murder for the shooting deaths of Susan and Michael Arvold, according the the Barrow County Sheriff's Office.
Arrest warrants were issued for the arrest of Jones after he was questioned about the shootings while in his hospital bed, where he remained under guard by deputies.
The sheriff's office is not commenting on how the suspect was injured.
However, the BCSO Jones was the person who reported the fatal shootings, telling a 911 dispatcher that multiple people had been shot inside his home,
Responding deputies found Susan and Michael Arvol dead inside the home, and that Jones had been injured by gunfire.
At the time of the double murder, Jones had been free on bond from his arrest in May for stabbing Michael Arvold in the stomach.
He reportedly told investigators that he stabbed his stepfather because he didn't like him.
Following his arrest for aggravated assault and related charges, Jones was granted bond with the condition he upp receive mental health treatment.
