An Athens man was recently arrested for allegedly trying to run over his girlfriend after she fell from his car during a domestic dispute.
Brandon Carter and Brittany Walker were arguing in the car on Hawthorne Avenue approaching West Broad Street when Walker fell from the vehicle.
A witness who was driving behind the couple told police it looked to him like Carter had been “dancing in the car,” but it had actually been him “forcibly pulling the hair of the female passenger, identified as Brittany Waller, in an effort to prevent her from leaving the vehicle,” according to the report.
Carter then allegedly tried running Waller over with the car, police said.
When interviewed at a gas station nearby, Waller told police that Carter had previously threatened to kill her and himself by driving into Lake Oconee.
Carter was arrested for aggravated assault and false imprisonment. He was charged with the alleged crimes under the Georgia Family Violence Act, because the couple had previously lived together,
Carter is being held at the county jail pending a bail hearing that’s scheduled for June 26th.
