Woman found dead at Jefferson Road Publix

A 69-year-old Athens woman was recently found dead in a car at Publix on Jefferson Road.

A police officer was on patrol at around 1 a.m. July 6th when he discovered the body of Oak Grove Road resident Mary Baker Vickery slumped over the steering wheel of a car in a handicap parking space.

Police said they did not suspect foul play and the county coroner took possession of the body.
