A 33-year-old woman reported last week that she was raped at two locations on Oak Street.

She told police that the suspect raped her behind the Dairy Queen and also at the bus stop across the street.

The victim identified the suspect as a 49-year-old east Athens resident.

“She said that this all started because of a conversation about peanuts and elephants and wanting to go eat ice cream at Dairy Queen,” according to a police report.

“She wasn’t sure how long it lasted, but she just wanted it to end,” the report says. “She also told me that she scratched him to defend herself during the incident. She also said that she tried to get away but he kept pulling her back and looking around for people coming.”

She that he later chased after her on a bicycle but rode away when she called 911.

An ambulance crew checked the woman out before transporting her to the Family Protection Center for a rape exam.
