Young girl shot in Athens apartment

A 15-year-old girl was recently shot inside an apartment on Scandia Circle.
Police are investigating the incident as a possible aggravated assault, but it also might have been accidental.
On the morning of September 20th police responded to the hospital where the victim was being treated for a gunshot wound to her thigh.
They learned that she and a friend had met some boys and invited them to the apartment where they played video games.
The friend said she was in the kitchen when she heard a gunshot and the male visitors ran from the apartment.
The two girls and a third witness told police that they had never seen the boys prior to that day.
Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.
