Photographer Georgia Darcey spent the afternoon of the University of Georgia’s Homecoming Parade in downtown Athens and at UGA’s Spec Towns Track. Here is some of what Georgia experienced in her own words and photos.
On October 3, 2025, I spent the afternoon photographing at the Spec Towns Track in Athens, Georgia, capturing UGA athletes during their practice sessions. I focused on several standout athletes — Alon Rogow in pole vault, Maximus Tucker and Romet Vahter in high jump, and Ethan Fralish in both long jump and triple jump. My goal was to highlight their focus, strength, and the behind-the-scenes moments that often go unnoticed outside of competition days.
Later that day, I made my way downtown for the UGA Homecoming Parade, where I captured the excitement and spirit of the Athens community. From the UGA Georgettes and Dance Dawgs to the Redcoat Band, Alumni Band, and cheerleaders, the parade was filled with energy, color, and school pride. Photographing both the athletes in training and the celebration that followed truly showed two sides of the Bulldog spirit — the hard work and the heart that make Athens such a special place to call home.
