An alleged drug trafficker was arrested following a traffic stop, Athens-Clarke County police said.
A vehicle being driven by 48-year-old Rahim Taqwa Aadil Abdullah of Parkview Extension was stopped in the area of Oconee Street early Sunday morning, police said, at which time Abdullah tried to run away but he was quickly caught and taken into custody.
A subsequent search of the vehicle found an undisclosed amount of suspected heroin, cocaine, fentanyl and cash, along with drug paraphernalia, and a gun with its serial number scratched off, according to police.
Abdullah was charged with three counts of trafficking illegal drugs, and single counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, criminal use of an altered item, and obstruction of law enforcement.
As of Tuesday morning, Abdullah was being detained at the county jail without bail being set for the drug trafficking charges
