A teacher at Apalachee High School has been suspended for allegedly threatening a student during class
“Today, a student reported to our school administrators that a teacher made a threat toward a student during class,” Principal Jessica Rehberg said Wednesday in a message to parents.
Rehberg wrote that the teacher “has been relieved of all duties, and the matter has been referred to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.”
Sheriff Jud Smith confirmed the request to investigate.
Further details were not immediately available.
“Please know that we take all reports seriously and will not tolerate any threatening behavior or statements,” Rehberg wrote.
The principal reminded parents to immediately report anything suspicious regarding any school within the district to administrators and law enforcement.
The incident came a month after the one-year anniversary of a mass shooting at Apalachee High School that claimed the lives of two teachers and two students and left multiple others injured.
