Armed robbery suspect nabbed while getting food in Athens McDonald’s

A suspect in a Barrow County armed robbery was recently arrested at McDonald’s on Atlanta Highway.
When located the afternoon of May 21st, 18-year-old Donnell Jones was in possession of a gun that had been reported stolen in Athens-Clarke County.
According to police reports, after learning that Jones was the subject of a BOLO concerning an armed robbery in Winder, officers went looking for him at McDonald’s because he had formerly been employed there.
When they found Jones at the checkout counter he had on his pants pocket a loaded 9mm Glock with a round chambered. A check of the serial number revealed that the semiautomatic pistol had been reported stolen last month in Athens.
Jones. who resides on Creek Pointe Drive, was arrested and charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
He is being held at the county jail, where the Winder Police Department has placed a hold on his release,
