A suspect in an armed robbery Tuesday afternoon was shot after a chase through Athens that ended with the suspects bailing out of their car.
The police department has not responded to requests for information about the incident.
However, sources tell Classic City News that police were responding to a reported armed robbery at Cricket Wireless on North Avenue when officers spotted a car occupied by the suspects.
An ensuing chase ended when the suspects bailed out of the car at Commere and Newton Bridge roads while it was still moving.

One of the suspects reportedly was shot by a Clarke County sheriff’s deputy, but it’s unclear if the deputy had been involved in the chase.
The suspect was said to be alive and responsive when transported to the hospital.
CCN will update the story as more information becomes available.
