Athens-Clarke County police announced they made two arrests Thursday in connection with a robbery attempt two day earlier at a westside hotel.

Lily Strealy, 17, of Comer, and Jackson Lentini, 17, who currently had an Athens address, were each charged with aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit armed robbery.

Charges against Lentini were later dismissed because prosecutors were unable to locate the prime witness to the incident

Strealy and the victim met via an online dating app and agreed to meet early Tuesday morning at Hampton Inn on West Broad Street, where police said she and Lentini followed the victim into his room. While Strealy tried to steal the victim’s wallet, Lentini pulled a gun and possibly used the weapon to strike the victim’s head, police said.

The victim was a South Carolina man who had been in the area on business and told police he went to the hotel to spend the night before driving back home, an Athens-Clarke County police official said.

The suspects fled after they were unable to get the victim’s wallet during the assault, according to police.

Like the victim, Lentini gave an address in South Carolina, but detectives believed he was residing in Athens at the time of the incident, said Lt. Shaun Barnett, ACCPD’s public information officer.
