Athens-Clarke residents sought for positions on policy-making boards


The Athens-Clarke County Unified Government is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following terms on five important policy-making boards:

  • Two positions on the Athens Downtown Development Authority for a term of two years. One position must be a downtown business owner and one position must be a downtown property owner.*

  • One position on the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Region 2 Advisory Council for a term of three years.*

  • One full-term position on the Division of Family and Children Services Board for a term of five years; three partial term positions expiring on June 30, 2021, June 30, 2022 and June 30, 2024.*

  • One partial term position on the Joint Development Authority of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, Georgia and the City of Winterville expiring on April 30, 2024. Must be a taxpayer residing in Athens-Clarke County.

  • Three positions on the Vision Committee for a term of three years.*

*Incumbents are eligible for reappointment and may reapply.  These positions are unpaid, volunteer positions. Applicants for any board, authority, or commission positions must be Athens-Clarke County residents. A separate application must be completed for each position. The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, October 16. The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to remotely interview applicants the afternoon/evening of Tuesday, October 27 and tentatively scheduled to make appointments at their meeting on Tuesday, November 3.
