A worker at a University of Georgia construction site reportedly died Friday after being struck by a forklift.

The victim was identified as 36-year-old Trevor Wilkie of Highland Park Drive in Athens, according to Athens-Clarke County Coroner Sonny Wilson.

The incident happened before 10 a.m., officials say, when Wilkie, an employee with IMI Construction in Watkinsville, was working on a campus steam line project when he was accidentally struck by the forklift.

The construction site reportedly is located between the Miller Learning Center and Tate Student Center.

Wilkie was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
