Athens man killed when his truck crashes into tree

An Athens man died on Wednesday from injuries he suffered when his pickup truck crashed into a tree.

Athens-Clarke County police responded at about 9 a.m. to the 400 block of Fowler Drive to a single-vehicle accident involving a 2005 Toyota Tundra that had struck a tree.

Arriving officers located an unresponsive driver and began life-saving efforts. Gustavo Guerra Martinez, 40, was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
