Police are investigating a case involving an Athens man who claimed to have been shot because of peanuts.
When officers responded early Sunday morning to investigate a reported shooting in the 200 block of Nellie B Avenue they found 37-year-old Brendon Terrell lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his leg.
He indicated that he knew the man who had shot him and “stated he got shot over some peanuts,”according to police.
Terrell would not give straight answers to questions “and was stating that he just wanted us to help him,” police said.
He was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
