A 66-year-old woman reportedly was carjacked Monday morning as was eating breakfast in her parked car on the fringe of downtown Athens.
According to an Athens-Clarke County police report, the Laurie Drive woman was having her breakfast behind the Jessie B. Denney Tower apartment building at 250 W. Dougherty St. at about 8:30 a.m. when an unknown male armed with a gun made the victim get out of her vehicle.
The robber then drove away in the silver 2007 Hyundai Azera four-door sedan that was valued at $5,000, according to the report.
Police Tuesday morning said the car had been recovered, and that the investigation was ongoing.
