Author, politician, historian, Athens native Michael Thurmond to speak at local church

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens is honored to host esteemed author, historian, and public servant Michael Thurmond on Saturday, May 17th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at 780 Timothy Road, Athens, GA 30606. Doors will open at 2:30 PM.

Mr. Thurmond will address the question: “Why does an inclusive history matter?” Drawing from his wealth of research and public service experience, Thurmond will explore the power of truthful, inclusive history as a way to foster unity towards a more equitable path forward.

A Q&A session will follow the presentation. The evening will conclude with light refreshments and informal fellowship.

Join us for an uplifting and thought-provoking afternoon with one of Georgia’s most respected voices in historical inclusivity and civic leadership.
