Authorities investigating Athens elder neglect case

Authorities are investigating the apparent neglect of an 82-year-old woman on the westside of Athens.

Police officers responded to her home on a report that her caretaker had stopped changing diapers and allowing the woman to urinate and defecate on herself.

To gain entry they had to kick in the door, and then they found the woman lying face down on the floor.

A police report noted that officers had responded on a similar report in August.

Detectives need to conduct more interviews for their investigation, according to police.
