Community Works Oconee Invites Community to Get Involved

ree

Watkinsville, GA — September 1, 2025 — A new volunteer group, Community Works, has

started in Oconee County with one big goal: bringing neighbors together to make a real difference where it’s needed most.

The group hopes to make it easier for people to find volunteer opportunities that match their interests and schedules. Whether it’s helping out at a local event, planting flowers, mentoring kids, or lending a hand at a nonprofit, Community Works wants to connect willing hands with meaningful projects.

“Sometimes people want to volunteer but don’t know where to start,” said Terry Thompson, who helped start the organization.

“We’re here to open that door and make it simple for anyoneto jump in and make a difference.”

The group welcomes new members of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers will be able to browse upcoming events, receive training when needed, and meet others who share a passion giving back. Even an hour or two can make a real impact.

How to Get Involved.
