Critical injuries in ATV crash

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services has reported a crash of an all-tettain vehicle in which two people were critically injured.

The incident happened late Saturday night on Gowder Road just north of Maysville.

A report from the Georgia State Patrol said the crash happened when the vehicle, driven by Clayton Richardson, age 31 of Maysville, started rotating while going through a curve.

The ATV then went off the shoulder of the road, overturned onto its right side, and hit a tree. Richardson and his passenger, Garrett Wessels, age 28 of Jefferson, were both critically injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.

The state patrol said charges are pending against Richardson, although officials did not cite specific charges.

Banks County officials said the incident left Gowder Road partially blocked until 1:00 a.m. Sunday.
